Jennifer, What a delightful play space and wonderful trail. It's great that both are close to where you live and they bring happy memories. Thank you for your weekend coffee share. Have a wonderful week!

I remember reading Mulga Bill's Bicycle at school and I must read it to my grandsons. What a lovely space that has been created in Mulga Bill's honour. #TeamWhimsy

I’m sure it’s still relevant and your grandchildren would love Mulga Bill Sue

I was rather fond of that picture book when I worked in schools. It was a palatable way to open kids eyes to the joy of poetry.

If ever I am in the vicinity I must visit that playground.

Also Jill, if ever you are close by, you must let me know, so we can do a quick ‘in real life’ catchup

I did enjoy your post! AB Paterson was my fave poet when I was a school kid and when asked to recite a poem, I would do "Clancy of the Overflow"...some 63 years later I can still do it too.

I can still recite Clancy now too. We repeated it so many times that it’s imprinted on my brain.

Thank you for sharing this poem with us. I'd forgotten just how delightful it is. So lovely they've celebrated it in the way they have.

I wonder what Patterson's connection to Eaglehawk was?

I agree a great poem and when my children were small we had the same edition of the book :)

I’ve wondered that for years Anne. Have never been able to find any connection.

What an interesting look at many aspects of Australia, specifically Bendigo (where sadly I did not linger long enough) where the playground and the national park give great memories and exercise. I have heard of Bango Patterson but not this specific poem. Definitely whimsical and funny!

Bernie I came across two Aussies who have a cycling tourism business using the name. https://mulgabills.co.nz/

This has always been a favourite poem Jen and I didn't know there was a playground area and trail. I must look it up next time we're down that way. Thanks for sharing this classic Aussie poem with us. #TeamWWWhimsy

Hi Jennifer, well I've just had an education! I'd never heard that poem before and I like it! Love the fact there is a 'trail' dedicated to the poem and story. Such fun for kids (and adults) to visit particularly if familiar to the tale. Very whimsical indeed! Thanks for linking up with #WWWhimsy - have a great week! xo

I’m pleased you found something new Min. I’m surprised you didn’t hear the poem at school.
