In September, I set myself a 100 Days of Joy Photo Challenge. The intention was to focus on recognising the joy in the small everyday moments. By the time I reach the 100th day on December 9, 2024, I hope to have a deeper connection with those tiny bursts of happiness that we often overlook. These moments of joy are easy to recognise on a good day, however they can occur on a bad day. I know for me, that if I’m having a bad day, I tend to get bogged down in the details of the badness. These are the days that we really do need to recognise that there can be tiny sparks of joy even on a bad day. I have found that recognising the joy can turn that day around.
As this challenge is mainly a photo challenge there will be mostly photos and few words.
The Joy of Irises in My Garden
When we moved here two years ago there was no garden. I had come from a country property with a large garden, so didn’t really know what I was going to do with a small plot. I decided on a cottage garden, which is my favourite type of garden.
I’m very surprised at how much growth there has been in the garden in just two years. I really love it and enjoy spending time out there, whether I’m working at it or just looking.
In my garden you will find roses and various cottage plants, but in early spring the garden is all about the tall bearded irises that are blooming. At the moment, the first thing that I do each day, is pop outside to see if there is another iris flowering. They never fail to disappoint and bring me joy.
Usually in the joy posts, there is one photo for each day in the week. This week, I am posting seven photos, but for no particular day. These irises each bring me joy, every day that they are blooming. The seven irises pictured here, are just the first irises of the season, there are a many more to come.
Where have you been finding the joy in your days? I’d love to hear what sparks joy for you. Leave me a comment and I will definitely reply

Your Iris flowers are just stunning Jen and I'm sure they do bring you joy. We are working on our garden and although I'm not a green thumb I'm finding joy in our garden project. #teamwwwhimsy x
