Before retiring, I was working full time and with my workplace being almost an hour from home, I have been away from home every week day for about 11 hours.
This doesn’t leave much free time. I found that on my days off I mostly did what I had to do, and rushed to get those things done. Now in retirement I can mostly do the things that I love, and the things that I want to do, when I want to do them. I love that!
Following are a few of the things I’m loving in retirement:
More frequent and longer visits to the library
Choosing to have a reading day, if that’s what I feel like doing
Not having to rush to get meals on the table
Time in garden is more leisurely
More time with Oscar, the toy poodle
Able to go to the gym again. I’m more than loving this, as I had thought my gym days were over.
Not having to rush housework. I don’t mind cleaning, but I really dislike having to rush to get it done
More time for blogging thoughtfully, and for blog planning.
Time to attend those genie conferences and webinars that I couldn’t previously fit into my life
Being organised! It’s years since I felt organised and I’m still not completely there, but I’m working on it.
More time for coffee catchups with friends
Oscar is loving having me home every day
When my partner is ready to retire, life will be perfect. For now I’m perfecting retirement until he’s ready to join me.

I agree with you about Oscar Christie. Good to hear that you're also enjoying the retirement life.
More time for life ... that's the joy.
