Autumn is my favourite season. I love to see the change in colours as the cooler weather sets in. One of my favourite places to see the changes of each season, is at the Garden of the Future, which is very close to my house.
The Garden for the Future is situated at White Hills Bendigo, less than 500 metres from our house. It is adjacent to the Bendigo Botanic Gardens, but much more recently developed, and considered to be a contemporary extension of the historic Botanic Gardens. The plants are all very hardy and drought tolerant and situated in a planned sustainable landscape.

The traditional name for the Garden For The Future is Larni Garingilang, which means home of growth, in the language of the Dja Dja Wurrung, the traditional owners.
The Garden for the Future opened in 2018 and gives a different garden experience to the Botanic Gardens. Some of it’s features are the Fun and Fantasy Garden, the Around Australia Garden and the Around the World Garden. Other features are wetlands and ponds, a storm water harvesting system, and over 15,000 indigenous plants and trees. There is so much to see in the many little nooks and crannies. I’m always finding new things to look at, especially at the change in seasons.

The nearby Botanic Gardens are very green, and it would be true to say that the Garden of the Future is mostly brown. Brown but beautiful, if you can believe that. However, there is a huge, very green area, where people gather to picnic and play. An events stage and shelter is available in this space for concerts and large events, which are held there regularly.

Both the Bendigo Botanic Gardens and the new garden are very different from each other, and each have big differences. I always finish my walk in this precinct, some days at the Botanic Gardens, some days at the Garden of the Future, and some days my walk finishes with a combination of both.
I feel very fortunate that this garden is close enough to almost be considered to be my own garden. I love watching the changes with the seasons. These photos were taken in autumn.

Those gardens are beautiful.
Jennifer, Beautiful photos! I'd love to visit both the Botanical Gardens and the Garden for the Future. You're lucky to live so close to both of them. Thank you for linking up with #weekendcoffeeshare.
